Keep each image type on its own spec
- Never reuse a listing photo as a banner. A 2000 px square photo stretched into a 1600 x 400 banner crops the product out. Design banners at their exact aspect ratio.
- Square thumbnails crop landscape shots. Etsy displays search thumbnails as squares. If you shoot landscape, keep the product centered or export square.
- Compress below 1 MB. Files over about 1 MB can fail to upload on slower connections. JPEG at quality 80 keeps 2000 px photos comfortably small.
